ANIMAL ACOUSTIC STARTLE

  • Multi-Protocol
  • Screening or Research
  • Fully Automated
  • Easy-To-Use Software
  • Minimal Subject Handling
  • Automated Calibration
  • Full-Power Acoustic Transducer
  • Statistical Analysis
  • Tone or Noise Prepulse
  • Provision for Shock, Light, and other Stimuli

Our Animal Acoustic Startle System is comprised of sound attenuating chambers, each of which will accommodate up to four animal holders and load-cell response sensing platforms, a LabLinc V-series or stand-alone A10-21 model interface with audio stimulus synthesis and response signal conditioning, and a high-power acoustic pulse amplifier.

Total Audio Throughput Capability is the most robust in the industry insuring that you can perform any protocol. The sound output of the startle audio transducer is up to 128dB with either 20Hz to 20 KHz white noise or with program selectable tone frequencies from 10 Hz to 25.5 KHz.

There is minimal animal handling. They are simply placed in a holder and then the holder is placed on the response sensor platform in the chamber.

HUMAN ACOUSTIC STARTLE

  • Selectable Physiological Recording Modalities Including EMG, ECG and SCR
  • Provisions For Other Stimuli Including Shock, Visual Display, etc...
  • Scalable Hardware & Software
  • Automated Calibration
  • Full-Power Acoustic Transducer
  • Statistical Analysis
  • Tone or Noise Prepulse
  • Provision for Shock, Light, and other Stimuli

The standard CI Human Startle System is a turnkey hardware/software package designed to facilitate protocol design, collecting & storing data and viewing subjects' responses both real time and delayed time. All data are readily exportable to any spreadsheet application.

During the protocol phase, the user selects which stimuli will be presented on each trial. Any trial may include a pure tone and/or white noise stimulus and either may appear in the pre-pulse or startle stimulus temporal position. Blank trials (i.e., trials during which neither stimulus is presented) may also be included. For tones, the user specifies the duration, the amplitude and the frequency. For white noise, the duration and amplitude are specified by the user.
