The Bio-System Calibrator provides precision waveforms for the calibration of physiological research equipment.  The unit is capable of providing signals on two channels simultaneously for complete system calibration from electrodes through amplifiers, couplers, signal processors and A/D converters to a computer.  Signals from microvolt levels to IRIG standard 1.4 Volt levels are available for all of the 16 digitally stored waveforms.  

The B68-02 includes selectable frequencies of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 100 Hz.  The signals included are:

The E13-22 is a basic, two-pole, resistively regulated, battery powered aversive electric stimulator, designed for finger stimulation. The unit features series resistance-regulation.
Series resistance-regulated stimulators can never deliver more current than the total circuit resistance predicates. The set accuracy is controlled by use of a fixed series resistor. The regulation is +/- 10% over a 10K to 30K subject resistance change and is designed for long session use. Being battery operated, it is fully isolated for subject and operator safety. The remote operate control input is optically isolated to simplify operation from any signal source from 5 to 30 VDC and to preserve total isolation. The output stimulus configuration consists of a series of low current pulses the frequency of which is set to 50 pulses per second.

The standard CI Human Startle System is a turnkey hardware/software package designed to facilitate protocol design, collecting & storing data and viewing subjects' responses both real time and delayed time. All data are readily exportable to any spreadsheet application.

During the protocol phase, the user selects which stimuli will be presented on each trial. Any trial may include a pure tone and/or white noise stimulus and either may appear in the pre-pulse or startle stimulus temporal position. Blank trials (i.e., trials during which neither stimulus is presented) may also be included. For tones, the user specifies the duration, the amplitude and the frequency. For white noise, the duration and amplitude are specified by the user.

In the classic Stroop paradigm, a subject is presented with a task designed to affect reaction time.  For example, the stimulus may be the word “green” printed in red ink and the subject is required to respond to the ink color rather than the word itself.  In this variation of the classic procedure, the subject is presented with photographs on different colored backgrounds and is asked to respond to the background color.  Reaction time is measured as an index of any interference in processing time introduced by the subjects’ reaction to the content of the photographic image.  The software controls the separate monitor on which the subject views the images and records the responses from a four-button console on which the subject indicates the background color.  Both the latency of the response and the color choice are recorded.  The stimulus may, at the users’ discretion, be masked by a different image on some or all trials.  On masked trials, the stimulus is presented for a brief time and is then masked by another image.  The subject is instructed to respond to the first image only.  In addition to response data, the system collects psychophysiological data for EMG (one or two channels), ECG and SCR.

SCRIPT DRIVEN IMAGERY SOFTWARE

In this procedure, scripts are read to subjects and they are asked to imagine themselves in the situations described.  Baseline data are collected in the periods between scripts, and response data are acquired during the reading of the scripts, during the imagery periods immediately following the scripts, and during a recovery period.  Self-reports of various emotional responses to the scripts follow the recovery period.  Data include EMG, ECG, SCR and self-report scores; both scored and raw psychophysiological data may be saved.  Scripts are recorded as .wav files and are presented in a sequence which is user-determined.  All aspects of the exposure to the selected scripts are automated as is the subjects’ access to a monitor and mouse for self-reports.
