The H10-24C is similar to the H10-24 standard isolation with very high-density, monolithic rigid foam walls except it is much larger than the H10-24 (39,690 cubic inches compared to 9,824 cubic inches in the H10-24). These cubicles are of sufficient size to hold a cage or hub with a full complement of stimulus-response modules and feeders. They will hold the longest modules (feeders and retractable levers or a nest/retreat box) on both end walls or a running wheel on one end of a rat test cage. It will also hold an octagon hub with feeders and retractable levers. The cubicle is equipped to mount up to two environment connection boards, ECBs, on the back wall for connecting the Stimulus and Response modules and the Habitest Linc control cables. There is an exhaust fan in the center of the rear wall. The fan is powered by 28 volts from the control interface.

This cubicle is identical to the H10-24T but includes an extra inner lining of three layer LAG decoupling foam. This foam gives the A-model superior sound attenuation for the most demanding stimulus presentation or vocal response recording acoustical studies. The 3-layer LAG coupling provides a foam layer between the outer wall and the center high-mass, flexible-sheet layer. The inner foam layer provides absorption qualities for sounds generated or reflected inside of the cubicle. This cubicle is equipped to mount one environment connection board, ECB, on the back wall for connecting the Stimulus and Response modules and the Habitest Linc control cables. There is an exhaust fan in the center of the rear wall. The fan is powered by 28 volts from the control interface.

The H10-24T is similar to the H10-24 standard isolation with very high-density, monolithic rigid foam walls except it is not as wide and is taller. These cubicles are typically used with systems where cameras need to be mounted on top of the cage. The additional height provides ample room to accommodate the camera mount. This cubicle is equipped to mount one environment connection board, ECB, on the back wall for connecting the Stimulus and Response modules and the Habitest Linc control cables. There is an exhaust fan in the center of the rear wall. The fan is powered by 28 volts from the control interface.

The running wheel features a shockable gird floor, a revolution sensing circuit to count turns, and a drag brake on the axle to allow for control of the force necessary to turn the wheel.  The brake is controllable for "on" or "off" by a spare stimulus output of the Habitest Linc.

Revolution counting is accomplished by a magnetic reed switch reporting to a standard response switch input of the Habitest Linc.

The printed circuit board wheel carries the shock stimulus from commutators near the hub to the grid bars around the circumference of the wheel. The girds are the same as all of the rat shock floors in the system.

When the brake control input is operated, the force necessary to run the wheel is increased from approximately 7 grams to approximately 30 grams (at 30 RPM) at the circumference of the wheel.  This force is not an absolute brake to stop the wheel, but represents an effective resistance (in the range of substantial activity) that increases the effort required to turn the wheel.  The resistive (drag) breaking force is generated by feedback from the magnetic interaction of the motor windings of the motor when it is turning.  Resistance is proportional to speed, reaching about 30 grams at 30 RPM.  

The running wheel may be joined to any runway or the H10-37R-LD Coupler (with or without door).  Access to the wheel may be controlled by using a guillotine door at either end of any runway.  The coupler with he lockable door may also control access. If you use either of the couplers, you can connect a rat test cage directly to the wheel and the two will fit in an isolation cubicle.
