The A13-16 Shock Level Tester allows for easy verification of the shock output of the aH13-15 or H13-17A shock generator. This unit requires a voltmeter and/or oscilloscope (not included). The input jack connects to alligator clips (included) that can easily be attached to either subject electrodes or the grids of the shock floor.

This unit provides two output options for verification. The first is a rectified DC output that can be used with any standard voltmeter to measure the peak current applied. In order to meet the requirements of more rigorous verification, the second output provided is for connection to an oscilloscope. This allows for visualization of the shock pulses in addition to peak measurements.

This research grade, precision feedback, current-regulated shocker is totally isolated (floating output) for operator and subject safety, as well as isolation from other sources of electrical stimulation such as physiological stimulators that may be in use concurrently. Isolation is achieved by using an isolated transformer along with optical isolation of the inputs from the control equipment. The unit can function as a two-pole (bipolar) current reversal "square wave" output, or as a scanner distributing the polarity reversal across an 8-pole output for grid floor applications. Mode selection is made by a switch on the back. The grid outputs are direct "Form C" semiconductor switches. The "off" grids have zero resistance so the subject receives the same current regardless of the number of grids contacted.

The H13-17 shocker is totally isolated (floating output) for operator and subject safety, as well as isolation from other sources of electrical stimulation such as physiological stimulators that may be in use concurrently. The unit can function as a two-pole (bipolar) shocker or as a scanner distributing the square wave, polarity reversal across an 8-pole output for grid floor applications. Shock amplitudes from as small as one microamp (0.001 milliamp) to five milliamps can be delivered in increments of one microamp with the H13-17. The amplitude can be set manually or can be programmed by a 0 to 2.5 Volt DC signal allowing the amplitude of the shock stimulus to be changed during an experimental session. The onset and duration of the shock stimulus can be controlled by an external trigger source (5 to 30 volts DC) or when precision timing is not required, by manually pressing a button on the front panel of the shocker. Up to 10 different amplitudes can be stored for quick recall when setting the amplitude of the shock stimulus manually. This 32in 8-Conductor Jumper passes through the cubicle to the grid floor when a cage is used in a cubicle. It is also used to connect the hub/runway distributor board (H93-30) to test-cage type grid connector (same connector as H93-01-25 and H93-01-50).

The H93-25 is used for 2-Pole shock applications when the shock gird floor is used.  The shorting plug ties all of the grids together as a single pole so that one pole of the shock output is the grid floor.  Commonly used in applications like the Vogel procedure or any application where the shock source is being delivered between the grid floor and another conductive object.

This Shock Distributor board is used for distributing shock from the H13-15 or H13-16 shockers to hubs and runways.  It accepts H93-01-25 and H93-01-50 cables from the shockers and distributes the shock to runways and hubs via the H93-31-32 or to the test and shuttle cages via another H93-01-25 or H93-01-50 shock cable for parallel connections of all arena and runway elements in a single-subject environment.
